I know if all that happened I would not wait till almost winter to file charges when it happened in the summer. I don't think the paper had all the information. I do know an ex member of that staff wrote about how the said fellow hot tubist was still going golfing and to the casino with Forrest in the last couple of months. Just not sure I would hang out with somebody that put me in danger like that. I wonder: 1. Did it really happen. And if it did..,. 2. Why wait to report it now? What changed? I don't know the other coach in question's name, so I don't have a dog in the fight. |

From what I understand, there is a different investigation filed at the end of October in which a former assistant coach brought allegations about the culture and environment created by Coach Mazey. As they were investigating, they interviewed this other coach who has been afraid to say anything about the gun incident until the other things were brought up. After the first one had the courage, other followed.
I also understand another coach is in trouble over retaliation/verbal harassment against the whistleblowers for questioning the other coaches' loyalty. I would also imagine that the interim coach and/or the AD would be in trouble for allowing kids to wear those "Free Coach Mazey" t-shirts on the field during last week's game as I am sure it made the other reporting coaches still on staff feel very uncomfortable since the kids don't know how bad the situation is. You would think the AD/interim coach would be smarter than that unless they secretly support Mazey's reckless behaviors.
Lastly, I hear the original whistle blower tried to come forward over a year ago, but was shut down by the AD and superintendent. None of this other stuff would have taken place if they wouldn't have suppressed the original coaches' right to submit his claim. I feel that Coach Mazey may be the tip of the iceberg in McAlester.

This is semi off topic but since the AD and Supe shut it down without due diligence are they being investigated or reprimanded?

I'm sure that is an oversimplification of what is going on but I can't get to the article to read it. I had heard this from a friend who had a subscription. |
